LEVERAGING DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY TO IMPACT CROP DEVELOPMENT

www.25-2.com

Who We Are? 25:2 Solutions is family-owned small business built by a diverse group of scientists and educators who dare to ask: "What if anyone in the world could develop their own crop variety?". Our philosophy is to use our time and talents to create solutions for our community and philanthropic partners that can be used to make the world a better place.

How We Work? The 25:2 family focuses on three main disciplines including seed curation/development (SEED BANK), molecular biology/analytical chemistry (CIPHER), and data science/machine learning (JAIS). We have combined these disciplines to develop new fruit, vegetable, grain, and pulse crops with our community partners. We are also developing new technologies that can translate and democratize difficult scientific concepts to people around the world.

Our Need? 25:2 is looking for an agronomist to help lead our research and production farm in Aberdeen, Idaho. Our farm is currently focused on growing and evaluating a highly diverse set of materials in the vegetable, pulse, and grain categories. The successful candidate will work with 25:2’s botanist and geneticist to design and sustain experimental trials throughout the growing season. The main responsibility will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the farm which focuses on sustaining plant growth and weed management in the conventional and organic space. In addition, the candidate will work with the Idaho department of agriculture and APHIS to obtain the proper inspections to ensure the harvest seed can be shipped to our domestic and international partners.

Desired Skills? Proficiency in managing various cropping systems for research and seed production. Proficiency in weed management and crop rotation planning. Good communication skills and the ability to lead. Experience with crop certification for domestic and international transfers. Familiarity with experimental design principals for field trials. Understanding of computation systems and analyses associated field trials. Ability to work with Data Scientist, Botanist, and Geneticist to achieve corporate goals. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Desire to learn new things and disrupt current fields of thought through good scientific methodologies. Conduct day-to-day farm operations in relationship to crop production. Field responsibilities include, but are not limited to soil preparation, planting, harvesting, weed, pest and disease management, equipment maintenance and repair, spraying, etc.

Experience? 3+ years of practical experience in agronomy or a related field. A bachelor’s degree in agronomy or weed science with experience in vegetable, pulse, and/or grain production systems would be encouraged. Research farm experience a plus.
