A typical day as a Fireplace Installer:
We arrive ready to start our day at 7:00 am at our warehouse. We have a daily huddle for 10 -15 minutes to talk about the day before and that day’s jobs. We do 15 minutes of stretches to warm up our bodies for the upcoming physical work. After checking your company issued truck and trailer to make sure you have all materials needed for the day, you and your partner will drive to your first job. We prefer to be on your first job site by 8:00am, every day. The jobs that each team of installers have everyday will vary. We do everything from inserting a pre-assembled fireplace box, connect all venting (pipe), finish the unit at the end of construction, connect gas to fireplace, fire unit for the first time, and various services for builders and homeowners. We do jobs all over the greater Treasure Valley area.
For the most part when you install the fireplace, the framing will be completed before you arrive to the job site. However, we do sometimes need to do some light framing or cutting to get the fireplace placed in the correct spot. You will be following a manual that comes with the fireplace to give you instruction on securing the fireplace and venting correctly. Finishing the unit, connecting the gas and firing the fireplace will be done closer to the finish of the construction of the home. At that time, you will be putting all media/logs inside the unit to make the fireplace look finished. This position requires a high level of safety focus for us but also the people that will be living in these homes for years to come.
We try to schedule our day’s work for the install teams to get back to the warehouse around 3 to 3:30 pm each day. However, flexibility in this role is very important. Some days are longer, and some days are shorter. We try our best to give everyone at least 40 hours of work each week and we try not to schedule overtime. However, we are here to be a great partner to our builders. There will be times that we require the flexibility to work after 3:30pm during a day.
