Central District Health (CDH) (https://cdh.idaho.gov/) is currently recruiting for a dedicated leader with strategic vision to head our epidemiology team as our Communicable Disease Control Manager. The selected candidate will collaborate with our professional epidemiologists, disease investigators and support staff responsible for investigating cases of reportable illnesses and managing disease outbreaks within our district. Typical Duties: Management & Leadership:

Integrate science with public perception to effectively control communicable diseases;

Evaluate program quality and effectiveness;

Promote agency values;

Develop and implement program vision and policies;

Interpret and apply federal, state, and local public health laws;

Provide epidemiological and immunization expertise and support local stakeholders;

Ensure compliance with contracts, grants, professional standards of program delivery, and insurance and financial policies and requirements;

Lead a professional workforce with the ability to rapidly surge during outbreaks and emergencies;

Make hiring and disciplinary action decisions;

Provide input on the agency on call manual and emergency operations plan;

Perform in key leadership roles to support the agency’s emergency response plan.

Participate in the 24/7 on call rotation, as needed;

Develop and monitor a program budget;

Research, prepare, and submit funding proposals;

Participate in subgrant and contract negotiations and provide general management of subgrants and contracts;

Oversee the preparation of reports for grantors, State agencies, Boards of Health, elected officials, and community partners;

Participate in agency strategic planning as part of the Leadership Team;

Participate as a member of statewide or regional groups related to program specialties as needed.

Analysis and Reporting:

Collect and organize public health data and develop technical reports;

Oversee completion of outbreak reports;

Share lessons learned and best practices with colleagues.

Education/Outreach:

Conduct media interviews and other verbal and written communication to the community and other stakeholders;

Provide expertise and resources to other organizations, such as schools, correctional institutions, businesses, and local communities;

Assist in the development of written or verbal communication to the medical community;

Present disease trend and/or prevention information to local healthcare workers, community organizations, and policy-makers;

Maintain relationships with the broader health community;

Mentor student interns;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Disease Investigation:

Oversee professional staff investigating reportable diseases and outbreaks;

Oversee professional staff conducting TB case management duties including directly observed therapy, contact tracing, TB testing, and monitoring of voluntary or involuntary isolation;

Address ethical issues in community disease investigation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of:

Management practices;

Public health principles and practices.

Experience:

Developing and monitoring a budget;

Developing and implementing public health operating policies and procedures;

Interpreting and applying federal and state public health laws;

Collecting and organizing public health data and developing technical reports;

Analyzing public health program issues and making recommendations;

Medical billing and coding experience.
