About the role:

As the Bursar, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of all student account transactions while leading a dedicated team to streamline operations and enhance service delivery. You will develop and implement strategic plans, monitor their effectiveness, and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement. By hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring staff, you will foster their professional growth and maintain high performance. Additionally, you will manage the department budget, conduct operational planning for Accounts Receivable, and handle year-end reporting, including system configuration and preparation of 1098T forms. Collaborating closely with Financial Aid, Registrar, and other departments, you will ensure fiscal integrity by overseeing cash handling policies and performing complex reconciliations.

The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is: $75,000 - $85,000 based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure Accuracy: Oversee cashiering and record-keeping functions, ensuring accurate billing, collection, and recording of various charges and revenues.

Resolve Issues: Approve payment plans, resolve escalated issues, and oversee collection procedures for defaulted accounts and other debts.

Audit Coordination: Assist with annual audits, preparing necessary work papers and providing required information.

Provide Consistency: Deliver ongoing training to ensure consistency in student accounts processes across departments.

What you will bring: 

AA in Business Administration or Accounting, Bachelor's in Business Administration, Accounting preferred.

Three year's managerial experience of professional staff.

Accounting experience and strong background in accounts receivable principles methodology and practice.

Knowledge of fund accounting, financial aid, and student loan terminology.

Knowledge of cash management principles, procedures and internal controls.

Demonstrated leadership behaviors that result in making good decision aligned with the College's priorities. Encourage team members to perform their duties to achieve priorities. Must possess qualities to inspire team by; creating transparency in the decision-making process when possible achieving accountability for decisions; inspiring team members to meet and exceed goals and objectives; identifying the strengths and development areas of each team member and inspire them to do their best work in an effective manner.

Demonstrated analytical ability and strong organizational and communication skills are a must.

Ability to manage as well as prepare departmental budget.

Knowledge of FERPA and ability to enforce adherence in order to maintain confidentiality.

Prior work experience in the community college environment preferred.
