Kauai Mechanical Inc., a local mechanical contractor, is looking for a hard-working and motivated individual to join their team as an HVAC Maintenance Technician for their Service or Installations Department.
The HVAC Maintenance Technician works under the supervision of the Department Manager and their primary functions include performing preventative maintenance, minor troubleshooting, basic repairs of various HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration systems, and assisting the installation crews with the installation of various HVAC systems, as well as the installation and fabrication of sheet metal duct work.
Job Functions
Assist technicians and have the desire to learn how to perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration Systems. Includes changing or washing filters, flushing/cleaning drain lines, inspection of belts, pumps, motors, compressors, electrical/control panels, washing evaporator and condenser coils, and cleaning indoor units and grilles.
Assist Installations Lead and other Installation Technicians with the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of a variety of HVAC systems. This includes building controls and sheet metal fabrication and installation.
Proactively engages in on-the-job training initiatives and demonstrates openness to continuous learning and development opportunities.
Able to be a self-starter
Ability to identify potential equipment issues, reporting issues to customers and department manager.
Ability to talk confidently with the customer, acting as a liaison between the customer and office.
Ability to maintain an excellent attendance record
Support Service Technicians with minor repairs and troubleshooting.
Perform work with a focus on Safety and Quality.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized job site. Must leave customer jobsite cleaner than it was at arrival.
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work vehicle.
Take responsibility for safety performance and program compliance.
Any additional duties/responsibilities deemed necessary.

Job Qualifications
High school Diploma or equivalent required.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate with a variety of personality types.
Attention to detail and the ability to complete work to a deadline.
Motivated to learn all that is necessary with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration Systems.
Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple issues.
Good communication skills.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Previous HVAC or Mechanical Experience is a plus but not required.
Universal EPA Certification or ability to obtain certification.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
