Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused, and guest-oriented Captain to lead our vessels and crew on exceptional ocean adventures. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with excellent seamanship, a deep understanding of Kauaʻi’s ocean conditions, and a passion for creating meaningful guest experiences. Key Responsibilities

Safely operate and navigate vessels by all company, state, and federal regulations.

Deliver exceptional guest experiences while prioritizing safety, comfort, and hospitality.

Evaluate and plan trips based on weather, sea conditions, and guest suitability.

Maintain the appearance, safety equipment, and operational readiness of the vessel.

Conduct routine and emergency maintenance, inspections, and cleanings.

Oversee crew and guest safety during embarkation, tours, and disembarkation.

Provide informative and engaging tour commentary that showcases local knowledge.

Collaborate with reservations and operations teams on trip planning and logistics.

Maintain accurate records, including manifests, inventory, and daily logs.

Uphold strict adherence to environmental guidelines and marine life regulations.

Requirements

Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a crew.

Calm and clear decision-maker in dynamic or emergency situations.

Proficiency in boat handling, docking, anchoring, and navigation.

Solid understanding of marine systems and weather interpretation.

Familiarity with Kauaʻi’s coastline and ocean conditions preferred.

Required Certifications:

USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (50 GRT minimum)

FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit

TWIC Card

Current CPR and First Aid Certification

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Compensation

$30.00 – $40.00/hour, commensurate with experience and credentials.
