Nonprofit seeking Video Editor/Camera-Op & Audio/Video Prod. Interns

Hawaii, Hawaii, 96801 Hawaii USA

Vacancy caducado!

Aloha!

This ad focuses on positions with our Hui Moʻokaʻao, or Digital Storytelling Team:

Video Editor/Camera-Op - commit to as low as 40hrs/mo, as high as 30-40hrs/wk)

A/V Production Intern - 40hrs/mo

If you are interested in positions with our Executive, Community Outreach/Social Media and/or Program Teams, visit manamaoli.org.

Hereʻs 5 reasons NOT to apply to join our team:

1) You dislike working with genuine, humble, amazing people

2) You find flex scheduling, remote work options, and not dressing up for work appalling

3) You are appalled at the notion of both working with youth AND behind the scenes support for those who do

4) Ditto with creating and/or supporting story telling through music and video, as mediums to perpetuate and evolve Hawaiian culture, and impact our youth & local + online communities

5) Getting paid to be at school-wide concerts, music video film shoots and jam sessions with Hawaiiʻs favorite artists and hammahz, sounds nailz.

Mana Maoli, a Hawaiian non-profit serving thousands of youth across 22 schools and 4 islands, seeks qualified, not-normal (but in a good way), committed and passionate team players to join our Hui Moʻokaʻao (A/V Digital Storytelling Team).

Video Editor/Camera-Operator - who can opt for a staff or contract position, and commit to as little as 20-40hrs/mo (contract position) or up to 30 hrs/wk. A majority of hours would be spent on video editing, with the option for additional hours as camera-op at film shoots, kanipila, artist school visits, etc (usually 0-2 times a month).

An A/V production intern to help with video editing and audio post-production tasks as contract work at an estimated 40hrs/month, with additional hours possible for help with audio/video production at events and film shoots, as needed and available.

Minimum Qualifications for A/V intern:

Strong desire to work with the Hawaiian community in a Hawaiian cultural context and engage with youth

Detail-oriented and able to transition between multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent people skills – able to work with a wide range of people and learning styles Enrolled in a post secondary education program focused on audio and/or video production, or at least one year experience in audio and or video production

Additional Minimum Qualifications for Editor/Camera-Op:

At least 3 years experience as Camera-Op and/or Editor

Preferred Qualifications for both positions:

Available during evening and weekend hours as needed for help at events and film shoots

Experience as a freelancer with credits preferred, but not required

SEEKING TO FILL BOTH POSITIONS BY MARCH

Compensation varies greatly based on relevant experience and skills. Many applicants prefer to discuss this topic if they make it to the final round, which definitely works on our end. However, if you have a minimum rate you want assurance of before accepting a 1st round interview, feel free to share that rate upfront with your resume, cover letter and requested info for your position. Weʻll take a look and do our best to get back to you within a week.

After an initial training/orientation, a majority of work can be done remotely. Sometimes meeting in-person may be needed for meetings, work sessions, or picking up project files. For those on Oʻahu, there are also opportunities for being onsite at artist school visits, film shoots, kanipila (jam sessions), etc.

To apply:

1) For the position you are interested in, check to see if you meet the minimum qualifications.

2) If you do, email [email protected] – in the subject heading, please enter the position(s) you are applying for, followed by your name.

3) Attach a resume and cover letter, which can speak to why you are applying, and any skills/experiences that show your qualifications for the position(s) you are applying for, especially if not evident in your resume.

4) For Camera-Op/Editor applicants, please provide 2-4 work samples. For A/V interns, please provide at least 1 work sample. Please specify your role(s) in producing these samples (i.e. camera-op, editing, audio production, color correction, graphics).
