Help Wanted: Beekeeper & Tour Guide Join our team at the Big Island Bees Beekeeping Museum!
Are you passionate about bees, honey, and educating others about the vital role these little creatures play in our world? We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Beekeeper to join our team at our Beekeeping Museum in Captain Cook.
Position: Beekeeper & Tour Guide [Hourly Rate depending on experience], Medical, vacation pay, plus tips and employee discounts.
Responsibilities:
Conduct engaging beehive tours: Share your knowledge of beekeeping, honey production, and the importance of pollinators, especially in the context of Hawaii's unique environment.
Lead honey tastings: Educate guests on the different types of honey we produce and their unique flavors.
Sales: Assist with sales and restocking at the museum store before and after tours.
Customer service: Provide an exceptional guest experience by answering questions, giving recommendations, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Maintain beekeeping operations: Help with the care of the bees and hives (depending on experience level).
Qualifications:
Passion for beekeeping and environmental education.
Ability to speak confidently in front of groups and engage visitors of all ages.
Previous experience with beekeeping (or a strong interest in learning) is preferred.
Comfortable handling beekeeping equipment and working around bees.
Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, outgoing personality.
Ability to work holidays (Mondays) as needed.
Experience in retail or merchandising is a plus.
