Kayak tour guide
With another busy winter season approaching, we will be needing some help - quasi full time and part time (occasional). Guiding is a customer service job with primary focus is safety, and managing people out on the water. You are the conduit for guests to enjoy the beauty of Maui.
What makes this a great job?
Compensation - while you are an independent contractor (1099 at year end), the average “hourly” for guides over the past 4 months is over $22 hour. Tack on tips and photos and your takeaway is quite nice.
Schedule - we start early (530am ish) but you’ll be home for lunch most days. Early to bed, early to rise…… Not for everyone but its a great schedule to have so much day left over. Ideal part time gig for restaurant servers
Casual environment - work outdoors and enjoy the water / meeting new people. Every day is different but the same. Type A personalities shine in this environment and enjoy the generous gratuities.
Exercise - You will be working out everyday. Responsibilities include loading / unloading kayaks and gear. Cleaning after each use. Paddling will keep you fit!
Team Member - You’ll be part of a team that is close knit and watches out for each other. Working both on your own, and as part of a team is a great mix. We have a great team in place and looking to add more great team members.
Who are we looking for?
Positive type A personalities - easy going, yet conscientious about your work. Good work ethic, RELIABLE, understand the visitor industry (we work when they are here). Strong, personable, healthy lifestyle. You are water savvy - safety is paramount. You will have / able to get First Aid/CPR certification.
RELIABILITY is a key component here. Reliabilitysay it with me. Seriously, it's a big part.
If you are not into the party scene, are responsible, and enjoy being on the water, this may be something for you. Priority given to applicants with a truck / SUV that can tow a trailer. We do work holidays and weekends and the odd time in the afternoon.
