Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, resilient, and mission-aligned Middle and High School Math Teacher to join our team. This role is especially critical in our rural school community, where your impact can truly change lives. The ideal candidate is committed to accelerating student learning, closing achievement gaps, and building deep relationships with students and families.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence
● Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in core middle and high school math subjects (e.g., Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Statistics, Pre-Calculus)
● Provide clear, scaffolded lessons that support students at all proficiency levels
● Use data-driven practices to re-teach, differentiate, and target instruction for struggling learners
● Incorporate hands-on learning, real-world applications, and culturally relevant pedagogy
● Foster a classroom culture of high expectations, accountability, and joy in learning
Student Support & Growth
● Identify and address learning gaps, providing and using evidence-based response-to-intervention strategies and supports
● Regularly monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments
● Offer consistent academic support during and outside of class, including tutoring, advisory, or enrichment
● Collaborate with special education staff to support students with IEPs and learning differences
● Build strong, respectful relationships that help students thrive emotionally and academically
School & Community Engagement
● Collaborate with families, support staff, and leadership to promote student achievement and well-being
● Participate actively in school-wide improvement efforts, PD sessions, and team meetings
● Embrace restorative practices, culturally responsive teaching, and inclusive classroom management
● Serve as a role model and advocate for the values of our school: connection, curiosity, and courage
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or related field (required)
● Valid State of Hawaii teaching certification or eligibility to obtain one (Math endorsement preferred)
● At least 1–2 years teaching experience in middle or high school, especially in a low-performing or high-need setting
● Deep belief in the power of education to transform lives
● Strong classroom management, instructional planning, and student engagement skills
