A locally-owned and operated consulting firm is seeking a full-time Supervisor for its Pearl City office. The employee must possess the necessary knowledge, education, experience, physical abilities, and communication skills to perform the duties described below:
Job Description Summary
The Supervisor supervises people, and processes within the Waste Management department and must comprehend complex operations. Excellent communication skills are important to be able to communicate expectations with all members of the team. The Supervisor’s goal is to ensure that products and services are delivered at maximum quality profitably. By giving clear and timely instructions, the Supervisor oversees the work of other employees to ensure the safe and successful execution of all Waste Management operations.
The successful Supervisor possesses acute problem-solving skills, and directs and motivates staff results by communicating Client expectations and job expectations; regulatory and safety requirements, scope, schedule, and budget. When necessary, the Supervisor must take on the role of coaching, counseling, and recommending to the Manager disciplinary action for employees as well as initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures for employees to follow. The Supervisor must maintain workflow by monitoring projects, understanding the inevitable variables, and facilitating corrections. The Supervisor is an integral part of the business process, and team, and must be highly competent, respected, and trustworthy in all areas.
Objectives of this Role
Motivate employees, resolve issues, and make decisions in the best interest of the company
Serve as a conduit of communication between employees and management
Implement established business strategy, assigning roles and tasks to dedicated team members based on strengths and abilities
Identify and implement positive changes in cost reduction and waste elimination
Meet and exceed department goals with optimum use of workforce and resource allocation
Ensure compliance with Federal, state, and county rules and regulations
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
Directly work with employees to meet quality and on-time project execution which includes, but is not limited to:
o Preparing estimates and proposals based on project specifications and/or communication with clients and monitoring their status of award
o Scheduling projects
o Compiling regulatory documents (i.e. Manifests, profiles, LDRNs, labpack sheets, small business drop off, laboratory chain of custody, closure plans, permits, etc.)
o Reports to regulatory agencies as required by various Waste Management facility permit special provisions
o Compliance with the ETC safety program
Communicating with clients to discern their needs and to provide an understanding of the activities that will be performed.
Ability to recruit, interview, select, orient, and train new employees to execute projects within the Waste Management department
Manage workflow and ensure employees fully comprehend responsibilities and delegated tasks
Set performance goals and deadlines in line with project estimates and budgets and reporting variances to the Manager
Monitor team productivity and provide performance evaluations, constructive feedback, mentorship, and recommend discipline as needed to the Manager
Receive and track employee and customer complaints, and resolve problems
All other duties necessary to support company activities.
Preferred Qualifications
An understanding of all State, Federal, and local rules and regulations related to the generation, storage, packaging, transportation, and final disposition of solid waste, hazardous waste, and related waste which may include, but is not limited to CERCLA and TSCA waste.
Proven work experience in a managerial or supervisory role
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively within the Waste Management department and across all ETC departments as needed
Quick and appropriate resolution of any challenges, discrepancies, or miscommunications
Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to adhere to deadlines
Experience with customer service and conflict resolution
Proven success in a corporate setting, working with all levels of management
Ability to motivate people on your team and across departments

Compensation: $25.00 per hour or up target compensation

Associate or bachelor’s degree
Professional certification
Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
