Our large General Contractor is looking for a Controller for our Maui location ASAP! The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including managing the Accounting Team personnel. This position reports to the CFO.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

The Controller must have excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.

Must possess strong analytical skills, excellent accounting knowledge and excellent leadership skills

Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.

Able to maintain focus on goals and the required level of activity necessary to achieve those goals without direct supervision.

>Prefer over 10 years of experience of progressive accounting responsibilities and financial management.

>Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.

>Proficient on Excel, Teams, and Outlook.

>Experience in e CMS or VISTA desirable.

Comfortable working in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work cooperatively and maintain a positive and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Oversee and manage Finance & Accounting department processes and personnel.

Learn and manage all accounting workflows (Accounts Payable, Payroll, GL, Financial Reporting), and develop recommendations to streamline and/or improve efficiencies, outcomes, or deliverables.

Oversee and ensure accurate timely financial reporting (internal and external) including Financial Statements, WIP, bonding reporting, bank reporting, etc as required.

Ensure organization is compliant with reporting/regulatory requirements as required by State/Federal/Region entities in which business operates. This includes financial reporting requirements as required by IRS, state or territory government requirements as well as general business and contracting license renewals.

Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to GAAP and legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of upcoming/proposed changes and or legislation.

Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.

Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.

Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies, monitor financial reports and identify opportunities to improve financial position.

Engage and oversee business insurance needs, including insurance audits, pricing, COI management, and coverage assessment.

Engage and support construction contract workflows and assist CFO with managing both term/condition review and contract coordination efforts.

Assist with Accounting software conversion and/or change management as it relates to system changes impacting and financial processes

Work with CFO to support the organization’s overall financial and analytical needs
