functional summary
This position performs the essential functions in the confines of the ships holds, under cranes, on the dock, in the terminal, on ship’s weather decks, in warehouses and any other location as directed by the operational commitments of the company usually under arduous conditions. You are required to have a valid TWIC badge.
key responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Lasher include, but are not limited to:
Equipment Operation
· Responsible for visual inspection of all products being received or loaded.
· Responsible for accuracy of all counts and for following proper tallying procedures.
· Responsible for accuracy, legibility, completion and timely submission of all documentation
Safety
· Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub- contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
· Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
· Work with Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
· Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
Teamwork

qualifications Education, Training and Certifications
· High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Licenses, Certificates and/or Registration
· Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required
Work Experience
· Experience in material handling on or around a dock and terminal
Technical Knowledge
· Use of basic hand tools.
Transferable Skills
· Must have excellent communication skills.
Abilities
· Above average hand eye coordination.
· Must be able to work in extreme stressful conditions and high traffic areas.
working conditions
· Overtime as required.
· Work is performed in a warehouse setting or in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
· Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
· Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
· Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
· Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
