Responsibilities include management and development of MOOSE module materials, providing Statewide professional learning and support, and fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholders to provide the highest quality learning opportunities for Maine students. The positions are forward facing and include frequent communication with educators and administrators across the State in addition to collaboration across State of Maine agencies. All three positions represent a unique opportunity to engage at the intersection of open-source education, place-based learning, and universally-designed learning opportunities for Maine students. The Department is seeking to fill three positions on the MOOSE team who will be responsible for:
The overall development and management of the MOOSE platform and library of materials. They will work with educators, other Specialists, and community advisory members to develop new material for the MOOSE platform and iterate on existing material to ensure ongoing functionality and relevancy. They will hold responsibility for the overall web experience.
Improving materials on the MOOSE platform with a lens towards increasing equity, inclusion, and the Department’s whole student approach. This will require significant communication and collaboration across the Offices within the department to ensure that existing and emerging efforts in the Department are highlighted within the MOOSE modules, providing tangible examples of the Department’s work in action.
Promoting MOOSE and supporting educators and administrators to incorporate MOOSE materials into their classrooms and schools. They will work with educators, other Specialists, and community advisory members to develop educator resources for existing MOOSE modules. They will also provide professional learning on the existing MOOSE platform and modules and provide support for educators within a designated Teacher Portal.
Work is performed in collaboration with other members of the Maine DOE and is executed under limited supervision. Extensive use of technology, statewide/national travel, and field assignments is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of current learning research and exemplary educational practices, with particular focus on interdisciplinary, project-based learning and learning through technology.
Knowledge of state and national standards for learning, the process of developing and implementing these standards, and the associated state and local assessment systems.
Knowledge of learning needs for diverse learners, including students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged learners, and English speakers of other languages.
Knowledge of current and emerging state and federal legislation, rules, and regulations impacting education.
Knowledge of project- and place-based learning methodologies
Knowledge of interdisciplinary curriculum development
Knowledge of emerging practices in equity, inclusion, and belonging work
Knowledge of public involvement issues in education policy decisions and educational operations.
Knowledge of computer software and hardware systems including networking.
Knowledge of Total Quality Management concepts, practices, tools, and productivity measures.
Knowledge of documentation strategies.
Knowledge of alternative assessment, developmental education, and experimental learning.
Knowledge of performance-based and standards-based educational systems.
Knowledge of systemic change principles.
Knowledge of Learning Results, the process of developing and implementing these standards, and the associated assessment systems.
Ability to effectively provide information, technical assistance, and professional development to PK-12 educators
Ability to effectively work and troubleshoot across multiple technological systems including word processing, spreadsheet management, presentation creation, form and feedback implementation, web design and development, database management, internal and external communication systems, and other emerging technologies necessary to facilitate the work.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to facilitate group dynamics and to use exemplary interpersonal skills in order to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders
Ability to respond with adaptability and resiliency to changing conditions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced education, training, and/or experience in Education, Human Resource Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field with demonstrated experience in staffing, training, multimedia promotions, and/or business planning.
