Schedule: Flexible work hours available. Between the hours of 7am – 9pm daily.

Location: Marietta/East Cobb, GA 30062

Job description:

We are looking for skilled Production Sewist to join the team. A Sewist that is comfortable and skilled at working in the quilting, t-shirt quilt and memory gift industry. Where sewing machines and sewing skills are used to create and potentially repair custom gifts items according to customer needs.

The Production Sewist will be responsible for operating industrial sewing, quilting machines, cutting tools and creating a variety of products based on specifications and design patterns.

The ideal candidate is skilled in sewing, has a keen eye for detail, and can consistently produce high-quality work.

Established t-shirt quilt, blanket, memory gift and handmade goods company. We are currently expanding and opening a retail and production facility in East Cobb, GA.

We are looking for sewists that are looking to join a team and family environment.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Follow design patterns and specifications to ensure product consistency

Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications

Operate sewing machines or sew manually to create, repair, or alter pieces and other fabric-made items

Maintain high production standards and quality

Measure and mark fabrics for cutting or shaping

Ensure that all pieces are correctly assembled and that the finished product is of high quality

Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing needles and cleaning and oiling sewing machines to ensure their longevity and good working condition

Inspect fabrics for defects and remove defective parts prior to the sewing process

Assist in cutting, pressing, and finishing work

Communicate with team about issues, progress, and changes

Collaborate with team members to meet production goals

Adhere to safety and health standards while handling sewing machines and other tools

Maintain a clean and organized workspace

At least 5 years of experience with sewing machines and sergers

Knowledge and skill in sewing, including different types of stitches, use of sewing machines, and understanding of fabrics and textiles

Attention to detail in order to follow complex sewing patterns and designs, and to maintain high-quality output

Creative eye for color, design, placement and pattern combinations

Time management and efficiency skills, as production sewing often involves meeting specific deadlines

Physical abilities that allow them to sit or stand for long periods, bend, grasp, grip and perform fine-motor movements, and handle various sewing tools

Problem-solving abilities to adjust and correct issues with machines, fabrics, or patterns during the production process

Excellent customer service skills, and ability to show compassion or be empathetic. Ability to communicate with people who may be grieving

Interpersonal and communication skills for working collaboratively with other production team members, understanding instructions, and providing feedback

Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols when working with sewing machinery and tools to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment

Ability to read and understand sewing patterns and specifications

Quickly learn new machines and technology. Sewing machines, long-arm machines, embroidery, electronic cutting tools, etc.

Ability to take custom customer orders and communicate the project scope back to the team.

Occasional overhead lifting, bending, stooping, squatting. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Availability to work in person

Typical Product Types: T-shirt quilts, T-shirt blankets, memory bears and other memory animals, custom pillows, ornaments, home décor.

Compensation: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. $17.00 - $20.00 an hour

Work Environment: Production studio attached to a fabric and retail store. This role

requires standing, bending, moving, lifting bolts of fabric for long periods

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Owner.
