I'm looking for a skilled handy person with at least 5 years experience. You will handle easy to moderate electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, most of which will take 15 minutes to a couple hours.
The pay will probably not exceed a few hundred a month at most, but you'll be provided a free room or cottage to live in, in a great neighborhood. There may be times when there isn't much work to do and the only compensation will be housing, or reduced rent on housing.
I will expect only about 5-15 hours per week, depending on how much availability you have and how much work I need done. More than anything, I need someone who has a flexible schedule to repair things on site when they come up, sometimes on an emergency basis. Minimum work involved will be 1-3 hours per week.
This is a casual month to month contract. Either one of us can end it with 30 days notice. But I expect it will last from 3 months to many years depending on variables.
The location is very urban, even though the property looks rural. There is a Marta train station less than 15 minutes walk, and you can also walk to restaurants, grocery store, Target, and Lowe's 20 minute walk away. A car is recommended but not required.
Things that are required:
1. Get along well with others of different genders and beliefs, as there are many types of people that live on my property. Respect personal boundaries. Be someone honest and who communicates openly, politely, and also online at times if I'm away. Have a thick skin for annoying things that may happen.
2. Consumption of alcohol is not generally permitted. Also, tobacco smoking is not allowed indoors. A goood level of cleanliness is a must (don't leave dishes,etc).
3. Be flexible with compensation, as it may vary from month to month. Ideally you have a job or business that is pretty flexible so you can deal with my emergency repairs when they come up.
Craigslist posts sometimes get many responses per day. If i don't reply quickly, please don't take it personally. I may have found someone already or I may just need more time to respond. Also, this is a unique place to live, with a country in the city vibe and a hippy/progressive aesthetic and community garden. While I don't require you to be into this sort of thing, preference will be given to those who are into the "vibe". But experience level is the most important factor.
