Senior E&S Property Underwriter (Level III or AVP, Level IV)96319Zurich is currently looking to hire a Senior E&S Property Underwriter to join the team in New York with the option to hire in Atlanta, Chicago, or Dallas as well. The Senior E&S Property Underwriter will analyze and underwrite highly complex new and renewal business, under minimal direction, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework as a subject matter expert, ensuring a high-level service to customers. As a Senior Underwriter will serve as a leader and mentor to the team offering technical guidance on key coverage issues and forms. In this role you will be working with national wholesalers to drive growth with a focus on profitability.This role will be filled at either the Senior E&S Property Underwriter III or AVP, Senior E&S Property Underwriter IV. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.Responsibilities include:Serving as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs.

Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing

Using risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale

Market facing and production within the E&S Property group

Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules

Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments

Senior E&S Property Underwriter (Level III) Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

AND

Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

Experience working in a team environment

AVP, Senior E&S Property Underwriter (Level IV) Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Brokerage or Market Facing areaOR

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree

Specific E&S Property underwriting experience with handling smaller limits, hard to place accounts

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office experience

Applicable Only to Jobs to be Performed in New York CityThe salary range for Underwriter Level III role is $126,100-$157,600. The salary range for Underwriter Level IV role is $159,200-$199,000. This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also bonus eligible.
