This position will be based out of Birmingham, AL, however, management may consider alternate Atlanta, GA Corporate office area locations with the expectation that frequent travel to the Energy Center in Birmingham, AL and other locations in the Southern Company system will be required

Work schedule flexibility exists with the expectation that they could successfully telework and be physically present in-office and/or field location on a routine and as-needed basis.

Some relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance.

This position will require some travel (day and overnight, up to 50%).This position supports customers across Southern Company and will require travel to the customers site to support project needs.

POSITION SUMMARYSouthern Company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee and manage a variety of projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Customers include but are not limited to: Generation, Power Delivery, and Southern Gas.Areas of responsibility include the following but are not limited to:

Equipment data development

Data base development

As-built print development

Ops/Maintenance Procedure development

Equipment Tagging

Catastrophic Event development

Training

JOB QUALIFICATIONSExperience:

Minimum of 5 years previous power plant, power delivery, and/or heavy industrial experience is required.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management or a similar role is required.

Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field is a plus.

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.

Minimum of 2 years of procedure writing experience.

Experience with updating P&IDs and/or Electrical prints would be desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Technical Process Knowledge: Extensive understanding of how power plant and/or utility power systems work and be able to relate to a customer when scoping out projects.

Project Management: Strong ability to manage multiple projects, track schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective customer and resource engagement including site leadership.

Financial Acumen: Proficiency in budgeting, cost estimation, and financial reporting.

Documentation: Attention to detail in maintaining up-to-date documentation and process procedures.

Coordination: Ability to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors efficiently.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges.

Leadership: Ability to lead project meetings and guide teams towards successful project completion.

Microsoft Proficiency: Extensive knowledge with Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Teams, Project, etc.

Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge with tools such as IBM Maximo, SafeTK, Data delivery (Bridge) and Documentum.

Customer Service: Commitment to providing excellent customer service and responding to customer requests promptly.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Tracking:

Monitor and track all projects, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Ensure all project updates are accurately recorded and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Documentation and Updates:

Maintain up-to-date records of P&ID revisions, schedules, and budgets.

Ensure admin/governance procedures are current and properly formatted.

Coordinate P&ID and print updates in and out of D2/Documentum with the responsible workgroups.

Financial Management:

Process monthly invoices, including Oracle/Maximo PO balance and vendor invoices.

Prepare and present monthly project and budget reports to customers.

Develop project cost estimates and finalize project charters.

Customer Engagement:

Respond to customer requests promptly and professionally.

Lead project meetings with customers to deliver cost estimates and project charters.

Obtain project approvals and finalize PR, PO & POET requirements with customers.

Maintain ongoing communication with customers and resources throughout the project lifecycle.

Vendor and Internal Coordination:

Manage vendor relationships, including but not limited to PIC, Hargrove, and Marking Services.

Coordinate with internal teams such as Maximo, SafeTK, SCS Design and others as needed.

Determine resource availability and finalize project deliverables.

Quality Control:

Ensure project quality control by tracking project deliverables and maintaining high standards.

Develop and maintain procedure Southern Company fleet requirements and strategies.

Project Completion:

Coordinate projects to successful completion, ensuring all objectives are met.
