Responsibilities
Lead and manage engineering projects in HVAC and plumbing design.
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and grow a satellite office.
Learn and apply marketing and business development strategies.
Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, and other disciplines.
Ensure compliance with local and national building codes.
Skills & Qualifications
Technical Basics
Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system types, including split systems, packaged units, and chilled water systems.
Familiarity with load calculation methods (Manual J, Manual N, ASHRAE standards) for proper equipment sizing.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, mechanical plans, and specifications.
Basic ductwork layout and sizing using static pressure and velocity guidelines.
Knowledge of ventilation requirements per building codes (ASHRAE 62.1/62.2, IMC).
Awareness of energy efficiency standards (ASHRAE 90.1, IECC).
Code Compliance & Adaptability
Ability to locate, read, and interpret applicable local, state, and national building, mechanical, and plumbing codes (IMC, IPC, ASHRAE standards, energy codes).
Skilled in identifying differences between local amendments and base model codes.
Comfortable communicating with local code officials or plan reviewers to clarify requirements.
Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date reference notes and jurisdiction-specific checklists.
Experience adjusting designs to meet project-specific code requirements.
Commitment to staying current with code updates and changes.
Skilled in collaborating with architects, contractors, and inspectors to ensure compliance.
Problem-solving ability to develop code-compliant alternatives when standard designs face constraints.
Preferred Experience
5 years of relevant engineering experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Self-starter mindset with entrepreneurial drive.
What We Offer
$50,000 – $60,000 base salary plus commission.
