Looking for Experienced Carpenter
EXPO Convention Contractors Inc. is a full-service tradeshow service contractor and tradeshow exhibit services company. We are currently seeking a carpenter to join our team. The prospective candidate must be capable of understanding written and spoken instructions to assist in the production of the woodwork in our carpenter department.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years experience in carpentry and all types of woodworking
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends
- Designing and installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture
- Selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job
- Reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals and architects
- Experience in using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws, and nail guns
- Bilingual preferable (Spanish & English)
Responsibilities:
- Review blueprints along with building code specifications to determine work details and procedures.
- Fabricate, remodel, and repair structures and frameworks using wood and other materials.
- Measure and cut wood or other materials by shaping and assembling the materials for structural use.
- Collaborate with general contractors and other construction professionals.
- Maintain safety practices at all times.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
- Knowledge and use of all techniques for the trade to include knowledge of products, lumber (grade and type), hardware, and other supplies.
- Knowledge and use of hand/power tools such as the table saw, drill press, band saw, and electric planner and router.
- Hang artwork and headboards.
- Visually inspect, diagnose problems, take measurements, and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform shop work to build furniture, cabinets, and shelving units and fabricate furniture parts for repairs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
