We are seeking an experienced and mechanically inclined Boat Captain/Engineer to operate, maintain, and manage the overall functionality of our vessels as well as navigate in Pacific and Atlantic. This individual must have a deep understanding of marine mechanics and systems and be comfortable being at sea for extended periods (several months at a time). The ideal candidate will be a seasoned fishing professional with knowledge beyond sail fishing, and a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in keeping vessels running at peak performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate and captain private vessels (up to 110 foot) for fishing and travel missions
Perform and oversee all mechanical, electrical, and systems maintenance on board
Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade vessel systems as needed (engine, plumbing, electronics, hydraulics, etc.)
Maintain safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness of the vessel
Manage fishing trips and ensure familiarity with various types of fishing (deep-sea, bottom, trolling, etc.)
Coordinate with owners and crew for trip planning, provisioning, and travel logistics
Keep accurate logs for maintenance, fuel, travel, and catch
Ensure all operations meet U.S. Coast Guard and maritime safety regulations
Qualifications: Preferred Education and Experience:
U.S. Citizenship (Required)
Valid U.S. Captain’s License
Proven experience as a boat captain and marine engineer/mechanic
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills
Must be able and willing to travel for extended periods (Months at a time)
Broad fishing knowledge beyond sail fishing is required
Spanish language proficiency preferred
Must pass background check and drug screening
