Film Source International, an industry leader in clear and printed shrink film, is accepting applications for the position of Slitter Machine Operator.
The primary responsibility of this position is to set up and operate a film slitting machine; cut film to specified widths, and lengths in a way that meets or exceeds standards for safety, quality and productivity.
Job Duties:
Maintain a clean and orderly work area/warehouse
Maintain a safe working environment by following all company safety policies and procedures and reports unsafe
conditions and incidents, while maintaining quality standards
Maintain company's quality standards and follows computer procedures to handle damaged material and quarantine material
Installs and aligns shear or razor blades for slitting feedstock materials
Starts machine, adjusts blade and controls, using wrenches, rulers, gauges, templates or other tools, and monitors operation
Set up machine for upcoming job (change out blades, remove and replace lay on rollers)
Load master roll onto machine, 795-975 lbs rolls lifted via a pallet jack
Unload smaller rolls off the machine, 15-60 lbs rolls, most common roll being around 35 lbs. 5-10 rolls per run
Log run details on paperwork
Load cores onto core cutting machine and cut to appropriate size
Remove edge trim from bag into container, then weigh and throw away
Unload/Load pallets on and off full size trailers
Tests and adjusts settings as required for producing according to specification
Selects, cleans, and installs spacers, lay-on bars, sleeves, and blades to set machine up to run in conformance to specifications
Reads production schedule, customer specification, and other documents to determine set up or adjustment of equipment
Threads film from the master roll through slitter and secures on rewinder
Observes machine operation and examines rolls for flatness, holes, surface and other defects
Measures dimensions of rolls using tape measure, gauge, template, ruler and square, for conformance to specification
Stretch wrap and package pallets for shipping
Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three years of experience preferred or strong desire to learn.
Ability to work at a fast pace
Ability to multitask and read production sheets
Ability to perform simple math calculations
Must be able to read tape measure, including micrometers
Must be computer literate
Must be dedicated to continuous improvement
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stretch, or stand for extended periods of time
