This role is critical for ensuring the safety of both workers and the travelling public in our work

zones.

The traffic control coordinator will be responsible for the planning and implementation of temporary traffic control on all Ajax area 3 projects. They will be responsible for scheduling traffic control crews and resources on all projects, supplementing Ajax crews with additional flagging labor or providing other outside resources as necessary to ensure field operations can be conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

The position will be responsible to ensure that all personnel used in the implementation of temporary traffic control measures are properly trained and equipped to perform the essential duties for each specific operation on all projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure all traffic control personnel are properly trained and have correct PPE to perform their

duties safely.

Assess and mentor Foreman.

Maintain a training schedule for all traffic control employees.

Ensure safety and regulatory compliance of all temporary traffic control in our work zones.

Serve as the Ajax subject matter expert for implementation of temporary traffic control measures on all area 3 projects to support both Ajax and subcontractor operations.

Be knowledgeable of the specific needs of each operation to be performed on a project to ensure that proper traffic control resources are provided on all projects.

Visit job site prior to contraction to inventory all equipment, both post mounted and temporary to ensure what is required is available and functional.

Actively participate in blue print meetings, pre-construction planning and coordination of required equipment and personnel. This may entail job site visits with the superintendent and MOT supervisor to determine specific needs for major operations.

Be the main point of contact for all superintendents to assist in planning and execution of temporary traffic control needs in support of construction activities.

Coordinate scheduling and tracking of personnel and equipment for each project.

Perform on-site audits to ensure safety and regulatory compliance of temporary traffic control activities.

Be knowledgeable and able to communicate protocols for handling incidents and emergencies within work zones.

Provide the superintendent and MOT supervisor or subcontracted MOT crew marked up plan sheets with standard index numbers for required lane closures in advance of operations.

Ensure a sufficient number of flaggers and available for each specific operation for the time they are needed.

Be aware of project traffic control budget and adhere to project budget as closely as possible.

Required Certifications and Skills:

Required Certification, ATSSA Advanced Work Zone Traffic Control Supervisor.

3-5 years traffic control experience.

Preferred, Certified Pedestrian Safety Professional.

Strong understanding of state local and federal regulations for traffic control in work zones.

Proficiency in setting up safe regulatory compliant work zones.

Ability to interpret, create and adapt traffic control plans per site needs and safety standards.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with traffic control crews and project supervisors.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to train and mentor foreman, crew members and superintendents on proper traffic control procedures.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to work in outdoor environments, at night on occasion and under various weather conditions.
