Description: The Program Specialist II is responsible for providing accurate educator certification information, in an efficient and professional manner via the Educator Certification telephone and email systems. This position must accurately retain educator certificate knowledge pursuant to Florida Statutes, State Board of Education Rules, and Department/Bureau policies covering all subject areas.
The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.

General Responsibilities:
This position has a cross-section of responsibilities between the four bureau units.
This position is responsible for providing direct quality customer servicethrough the Educator Certification Contact Center.
This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to accurately answer emails in a high-volume work environment.
This position requires comprehension of Florida certification laws and rules to support applicants, districts and other stakeholders.
Work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Specific Responsibilities :
Provide and explain information regarding all aspects of the certification process through the Educator Certification Contact Center and District PartnerLine.
Complete appropriate file documentation for telephone calls, emails, and office visitors and take appropriate follow-up actions on customer’s files.
Provide carefully researched responses to educator certification inquiries from the applicant, institutions of higher education and public-school educators.
This position is responsible for providing timely responses to requests for certification assistance from the automated phone system, the Bureau’s electronic mailbox, and the Bureau’s professional staff.
Coordination of high-volume email inquiries by carefully researching and drafting responses.
Develop and review program procedural manuals, administrative rules, and program guidelines.
Ensure the proper redaction of nonpublic information on background screening results, applications, and other related materials.
Retrieve certificate/licensure sanction reports from other states via the NASDTEC Educator Clearinghouse and input appropriate alert records in Versa.
Assist in the preparation and dissemination of certification reports and information to stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Florida State Board of Education Rules and procedures governing the issuance of Educator Certificates.
Thorough knowledge of the application process.
Skills with computers, updating database files and operating an imaging system.
Ability to track multiple projects in an organized and systematic manner.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, to exercise mature judgment, to work independently, and to establish and maintain effective professional rapport with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher
