Incumbent works independently to assist staff with a variety of administrative tasks/functions which are often complex in nature. Incumbent is responsible for supervision of support personnel within the section to include at least one (1) OPS employee. Responsible for supervising support staff within area of assignment; including training and directing the activities for OPS employees. Provides assistance with the day-to-day operations of the office. Responds to telephone calls for administrative concerns and public response, disseminates information to the public and employees regarding permits and other laws and rules of the FWC. Keeps current on procedures, laws, regulations and rules. Responsible for organization and oversight of commercial database for permits. Performs duties relating to investigative matters with regard to the processing of permits and related correspondence. Tasks include the administrative duties of generating, processing, reviewing, tracking, sorting, approving and filing miscellaneous permits and section correspondence. Performs revision and typing of correspondence, memoranda, reports, rule packages, records and other office documents from rough and finalized copies. Maintains a high rate of production while maintaining quality in the finished product. Drafts correspondence to the public. Maintains electronic correspondence files and databases to access permits and correspondence. Extracts, collates and merges stored information as required. Responsible for the input of data involving miscellaneous captive wildlife permits. Assists in compiling reports, special projects and reconciliation of records for the Captive Wildlife/Environmental Investigations Section as needed. Handles other administrative duties as assigned. Provides assistance as needed and as assigned in the absence of other administrative staff. Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to read and understand applicable rules, regulations and directives. Ability to communicate effectively with the public in a courteous manner. Ability to use personal computer. Ability to set up and organize office files. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of purchasing rules; property inventory, finance & accounting procedures, personnel and budget. Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous manner. Ability to supervise. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have experience drafting /writing professional correspondence / letters

Must have prior experience creating analytical reports using large data sets from multiple databases.

Must have at least one year of supervisory experience.

Must have at least one year of prior customer service experience.

Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel.

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
