Solid Waste Contract Monitor

In your day-to-day workload you will be monitoring the solid waste franchise contracts, and solid waste ordinance provisions, responding to customer inquiries, and performing general activities to support the overall goals of the Solid Waste Collections Unit. Provide support and assistance to the Compliance/Maintenance Specialist Tier III in monitoring the daily operation of solid waste collections.

Investigate reports of non-compliance and document circumstances regarding possible violations of the Solid Waste Ordinance, Franchise Collections Agreement, and/or illegal dumping.

Work with contractor(s) and commercial/residential customers to improve service and resolve operational complaints and concerns.

Provide waste audits, make recommendations, and increase business knowledge of waste reduction/recycling programs and resources available.

Primarily focused on increasing the amount of commercial solid waste being recycled and/or diverted from disposal at the county’s landfill.

Provide documentation, reports, etc. along with follow-up to ensure compliance with the mandatory recycling program.

Work Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.About YouMinimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or its equivalent.

Three (3) years total of related experience in inspections and/or monitoring for contract compliance.

OR - College or University level training in Solid Waste Management, Recycling, Business Management, Finance, or a highly related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience.

Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

SWANA level training.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Starting Pay Range: $21.63 - $22.50 /hour, based on your experience.
