Overview:The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for quality control testing in a self-directed team environment. QA related activities include functional, front end, back end, automation, performance and regression/system integration (end-to-end) testing of all software application changes.

The purpose of the position is to support Boar's Head critical business applications with a primary focus on the testing phase of the SDLC with core competencies for Oracle applications and their integration to custom web applications.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Testing and Controls
  • Ultimate responsibility for quality assurance testing of, maintaining, and supporting Boar's Head business applications with core competencies focused on Oracle applications including but not limited to Financials, Warehouse Management System, Order Management, Business Intelligence (OBIEE), Custom Web applications and their technical integrations.
  • Performing quality assurance activities including functional, front-end, back-end, automation, performance and regression/system integration (end-to-end) testing of all software changes. Works with the Business Systems Analyst, Project Manager and Functional Owner to interpret the test needs as requirements are being developed in order to ensure the standard of testing supports the business need.
  • Review requirements, functional specifications and detailed design documentation to derive test objectives, develop test strategies, and write test plans/steps.
  • Designs test plans and test steps; test cases will be written to the level of detail ensuring repeatability and compliance to QA standards.
  • Creation and maintenance of test plans and test scripts enabling execution resulting in thorough analysis and accurate documentation of test results.
  • Defect Management - create, update and manage defects working with business analysts, development, user acceptance testers, and overall project team to manage and oversee quality with coordination ensuring defect resolution.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve critical business issues through assigned production support assignments, tactical enhancements and project deliverables, which include the following:
- Manual functional testing for focused change with defined test strategies and plans for larger initiatives

- Developing test cases, writing new test cases from business requirements, updating existing test cases based on new business requirements

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Contribute to the execution of UAT.
  • Coordinate UAT and/or validation activities for project implementation/deployment.
  • Deliver minimum bug free product to business users for UAT.
  • Provide training to end users on system functionality.
  • Respond to the needs of the user community through proactive initiatives such as weekly testing, standard documentation, and processes.

Quality Assurance Test Management Software
  • Leverage the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) application to expedite the testing cycle, specifically writing test steps in the Test Plan module, linking test plans to requirements in the Requirements module, logging and working defects in the Defect Management module, and executing test plans in the Test Lab module.
  • Manage testing deliverables in the ALM application.
  • Participate, contribute and evolve the usage of the ALM application.

Quality Assurance Methodology & Standards
  • Participate in functional/technical design reviews, providing feedback/recommendations as appropriate and necessary, highlighting potential operational impacts, design gaps, and workflow improvement opportunities.
  • Work effectively on a fast-paced, agile team; working side-by-side with development to create and execute tests within each stage of the software development lifecycle
  • Works with Software Development and Business Analyst/System Analyst to provide guidelines, procedures and tools for QA and change management to include: documentation, test plans, test scripts, integration plans, acceptance procedures and recovery procedures.
  • Able to develop integration test plans which include regression testing and packaging of tests into consecutive steps based on logical dependencies to ensure quality delivery.
  • Identify what test cases should be used for functional/system integration testing and what test cases should be automated and executed as part of the regression suite.
  • Contribute to and communicate software quality assurance best practices to increase the quality of software being deployed.
  • Identify continuous improvement recommendations for QA and change management process.
  • Participate, contribute and maintain the following:
- Specific QA gating criteria (executing SDLC)

- Standards and best practices for testing

Process and Working Practices
  • Prepare weekly timesheets and status reports to management in addition to maintaining a work task list ensuring deliverables are met as scheduled and committed.
  • Provide on call rotational support of critical business applications as scheduled and required.
  • Ability to support concurrent projects in an organized manner.
  • Demonstrate ability aptitude in logical and analytical thinking, as well as display strong problem solving skills with experience in using diagnostic tools.
  • Communicate product readiness, level of quality, and results to project team members.
  • Other project and responsibilities may be added at the manager's discretion.

Qualifications:
  • College degree in computer science/engineering preferred. Equivalent professional experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years experience as a QA Analyst/Engineer, Software Systems Engineer, Programmer/Systems Analyst, or Functional Analyst.
  • 5+ years' experience with Oracle ERP with emphases on Financials, Order Management, Warehouse Management, and/or Process Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management
  • Technical experience in supporting Oracle, Web based applications/HTML protocols, SQL skills, etc.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, cross-functional and multi-team environment.
  • Working knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with HP ALM Testing Suite of Products including LoadRunner, QTP, Sprinter, and QAInspect.
  • Proficiency in computer software with full Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio ad IT Case Management systems.
  • Certifications in the following areas highly valued:
- Software Testing Certifications

- Oracle Applications

- Project Management
