Overview:
Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Construction Services Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
Job Responsibilities:
-Ensure that all testing equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy, and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle
-Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures
-Drive to job sites and conduct testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials
-Return samples to the office for testing
-Report data in an accurate, complete, timely, and understandable fashion in accordance with applicable testing procedures
-Operating testing equipment; ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly and maintained as required by the company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle
-Operate a motor vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep)
-Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required; cellular phones are to be worn at all times, and calls are to be returned immediately
-Regular attendance is required; technicians must arrive on time for scheduled jobs
-Prepare testing reports using Field Data Collection (FDC) software; ability to write and retrieve emails using Microsoft Outlook
-Must be willing to travel within the state of Florida, if applicable
-Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy
-Turn in required paperwork daily
-Regular attendance is required
-Must be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs; overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needs
-Follow all company safety procedures and policies
-Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
-Valid Florida Driver’s License
-Ability to pass a background check
-Ability to read & write
-Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
-Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear; body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation
-The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
-On average the workdays range from 7 - 12 hours
-Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle, including wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles
-This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud
