Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Cyber System Engineer to fill a role in Panama City, FL that requires a broad array of knowledge and skills to be applied across shipboard networks. Typical responsibilities include:
  • Ensure system security needs are established and maintained under the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process for operations development, security controls definition, security risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, security assessments, systems security hardening, vulnerability testing, security compliance scanning, and provide analytical support for security policy development and analysis.
  • Document/support Assessment & Authorization activities necessary for Authorization to Operate (ATO) approvals.
  • Assess and Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG). Update as necessary when revisions are published.
  • Perform hands-on cybersecurity implementation, oversight, and support to a team of integration, network, cyber, and test engineers.
  • Weekly participation in customer facing Technical Interchange Meetings and other technical meetings.
The preferred candidate will have direct work experience in the task items listed above. They must have a broad knowledge of IT systems, the impacts of system hardening on those systems, and experience diagnosing and resolving issues caused by system hardening.Preferred skillsets include:
  • Strong IT/IS troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver quality artifacts on time.
  • Effective research skills to find solutions to technical and security challenges.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Strong writing skills for preparing technical documentation.
  • Soft-skills for communicating and relaying information to Government customer in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency with Group Policy Management in Windows.
  • Proficiency with Windows Active Directory.
  • Proficiency with Windows Registry.
  • Proficiency with Cisco and other network equipment.
  • Proficiency with VMware.
Basic qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline with 7 years of experience/ 5 with Masters / an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • US Citizenship and an active Secret clearance is required
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (NIST SP 800-53).
  • Current DoD 8570 Certification IAT Level II or higher (Security+, CISSP, etc.) or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
Preferred qualifications:
  • VMware ESXi/VCenter integration and management experience.
  • Experience installing and configuring Linux, Unix or Windows operating systems and applications.
  • Network design experience with a focus on cybersecurity.
  • Storage Area Network (SAN) experience.
  • Windows server / workstation administration experience.
  • Domain Controller experience (Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Certificate Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects).
  • Experience with automation design and development using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, and scripting tools.
  • Experience in large-scale integration with a cybersecurity focus.
  • Strong IT/IS troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range: $119,400 USD - $179,200 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
