Our team is dedicated to delivering prompt, professional service and maintaining clear communication between customers, office staff, and technicians. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented independent contractor to work from our Sanford office during the afternoon and early evening hours, ensuring service calls are assigned, monitored, and completed efficiently.
Role Overview
As a Garage Door Dispatcher, you will be the central point of communication between customers, office staff, and field technicians. You will coordinate schedules, assign jobs, and monitor progress to make sure service runs smoothly throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Schedule
- Afternoon to early evening hours (for example, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with some flexibility based on business needs)
- On-site at our Sanford, FL office
Scope of Work
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Receive and manage incoming service requests by phone, email, or dispatch software
- Assign jobs to available technicians based on location, skillset, and availability
- Monitor job progress and update customers on estimated arrival times
- Communicate changes or urgent updates to both customers and technicians
- Maintain accurate records in dispatch software
- Handle urgent rescheduling or job reassignments to keep operations moving
Independent Contractor Requirements
- Prior experience in dispatching, scheduling, or customer service (trade or field service industry preferred)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, on-site environment
- Operates as an independent business entity and is responsible for own taxes, insurance, and business expenses
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous dispatch experience in garage doors, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical services
- Familiarity with routing and schedule optimization
- Proven ability to manage multiple calls and service requests simultaneously
Compensation
- Competitive contractor pay based on experience and scope of work
- Payment made weekly
- No employee benefits provided; contractor is responsible for all tax obligations
