Network II Support 5-6 Month Contract Day Shift OpportunityThis IT IOC Network Specialist position will provide expert operational network support for the client s Enterprise-Wide Area Networks (WAN) / Local Area Networks (LAN), and Grid Systems. The IOC Network Specialist position requires a skilled, highly motivated individual with technical and problem-solving skills. The IOC is responsible for the support of IT strategic initiatives such as monitoring, troubleshooting, development, implementation, and operations of corporate and grid system network infrastructure. IOC Network Specialists respond to all service interruptions or performance problems, as well as track all trouble tickets to ensure closure of the problem in a timely manner. Support includes but is not limited to: routing and switching network equipment, Firewall, VPN, VoIP, Wireless Systems, Energy Management System (EMS), Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Residential / Commercial / Industrial Demand Side Management (DSM) systems. Support of these systems also include Move / Add / Change (MACs) with the associated infrastructure and communication systems and are required to comply with FERC, NERC, NEI Nuclear, SOX standards. The IOC Network Specialist consults with the appropriate carriers and IT teams to resolve problems. The IOC will also host triage calls, providing escalation and status reporting of network equipment including Linux, AIX, and Windows servers. The IOC team works closely with all support teams and other members of the IT department to develop a strong well-rounded understanding of systems and networks. Diligence and meticulous attention to detail are key skills, along with the ability to multitask and prioritize work appropriately. The IOC is responsible for ensuring the availability of in-house voice, data, and wireless network services, through the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This candidate must be eager and quick to learn, must exhibit clear communication skills, and demonstrate initiative to tackle a broad range of problems. The candidate must maintain strong analytical, technical, communication, and team skills to manage and control the operations of the network and security communications. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyzes and resolves network hardware, software, and performance problems in a timely and accurate fashion
- Applies in-depth knowledge and experience in own discipline, while continuing to acquire and develop higher-level knowledge and skills
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve services
- Builds in-depth knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers
- Solves complex problems while applying judgment and discretion
- Analyzes possible solutions creatively
- Performs daily system checks to ensure critical systems and services are operational
- A keen analytical and structured approach to problem-solving
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Experience: 5+ years
- Bachelor's or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge and usage of IBM Tivoli or similar monitoring tools preferred
- Fluency using Excel
- Experience writing Python / Pearl / Bash scripts or equivalent
- Experience leveraging data visualization such as Power BI
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA / CCNP
- Unix / Linux commands line experience
- Knowledge in VoIP technologies
- Proven ability to work independently
- Strong troubleshooting and multitasking skills
- Strong communication skills, written, and verbal
