Pediatric Mobile Clinic Program The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (H) (APRN) delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The APRN also examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. May prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests. Advises patients about continuing care.JOB FUNCTIONS Performs and documents complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories. Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients. Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability. Assists with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions. Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals. Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools. Department Specific FunctionsPediatric Mobile Clinic Lead Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Pediatric Assessments: Conduct comprehensive physical examinations, developmental assessments, and health screenings to evaluate pediatric patients’ overall health and medical developmental milestones.

Diagnosing and Treating Illnesses: Diagnosing and treating common acute and chronic illnesses in pediatric patients. Treatment includes, but is not limited to, prescribing appropriate medications, therapies, and laboratory orders.

Preventive Care and Health Promotion: Such as, but not limited to, immunizations, regular check-ups, and health education to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent illnesses.

Managing Chronic Conditions: Monitor and manage chronic health conditions in pediatric patients, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.

Education: Educate patients and their families about various health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for maintaining optimal health. Provide counseling on topics like nutrition, development, and behavior.

Collaborative Care: Work closely with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, ensure effective communication, and provide holistic care for pediatric patients.

Department Specific Qualifications Education:

A Master of Science in Nursing Specialized in Pediatric Primary Care before applying for the position

A Master of Health Services Administration before applying for the position

Certification and Licensing:

A valid Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - State of Florida Department of Health (FL-DOH) before applying for the position

A valid Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) - Florida Department of Law Enforcement before applying for the position

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of primary pediatric care experience in a mobile unit environment before applying for the position

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:Child Development and Pediatric Care:

Understanding of normal and abnormal growth and development in children.

Knowledge of common pediatric illnesses, their diagnosis, and treatment.

Proficiency in pediatric pharmacology, including dosing and side effects.

Integrated Care:

Understanding of how physical health and mental health intersect, especially in children.

Knowledge of family dynamics and how they impact both physical and mental health.

Awareness of the social determinants of health and how they affect children's well-being.

Skills:Clinical Assessment:

Proficient in conducting comprehensive physical exams and developmental assessments.

Skilled in performing psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams and diagnostic interviews.

Ability to integrate physical and mental health findings to develop a holistic treatment plan.

Intervention and Management:

Competent in managing common pediatric health conditions and psychiatric disorders.

Ability to prescribe and manage medications, understanding the interactions between psychotropic and other medications.

Communication and Collaboration:

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and healthcare teams.

Ability to educate and support families about treatment plans, disease management, and mental health strategies.

Proficiency in coordinating care with other healthcare providers, educators, psychologist, social worker and therapist.

A deep sense of empathy and understanding towards children and their families.

Respect for cultural diversity and the ability to provide culturally sensitive care.
