Responsibilities Peraton has an immediate need for a

Mechanical Ground Support Engineer (MGSE)at

Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

Supports the NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) customer in a wide range of engineering tasks, including tracking the design, development, manufacturing, testing, processing, launch performance and troubleshooting of launch pad ground systems used by various launch vehicles for NASA and other agency missions. The tasks involve heavy communication with NASA and Launch Vehicle Contractor (LVC) engineers to ensure mission success.

Candidate will contribute to and present at engineering review boards that affect future missions along with attending and contributing to LVC design reviews, LSP readiness reviews, hardware inspections and major operations at various launch facilities. Candidate will also be involved with reviewing related documentation from design drawings and requirements documents to hardware build papers, along with operating a telemetry console during launch to monitor/assess system performance. Candidate will be required to clearly and concisely document findings/concerns and present to fellow engineers and LSP engineering management.

Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Prior experience in launch vehicle engineering mechanical or fluid systems, preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend engineering drawings, fluid analysis (e.g. relief valve sizing, psychometric charts), and performing minor stress calculations as a sanity check of existing and proposed design changes.
  • Provide an independent assessment of possible critical technical issues.
  • Strong background in some or all the launch vehicle Mechanical/Fluids Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) functions to include HVAC, pneumatics, lifting and handling, propellant loading, hydraulics, and their interfaces to associated flight systems.
  • Familiarity of common Military Standards, design principles and test preferred.
  • Require dependability, self-motivation, good communication, strong interpersonal and good computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office/Windows OS required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Requires minimum 8-10 years experience years with BS/BA or 6-8 years with MS/MA or PhD with 3-5 years of experience.
