SUBSTITUTE TEACHING HIRING PROCESS
and REQUIREMENTS for ALACHUA COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Minimum criteria for becoming a substitute teacher:
High School Diploma
Must be 21 years or older
Must work at least 1 Monday and 1 Friday within 30 days
To complete the application and hiring process you will need to:
Submit a High School Diploma or an Official Transcript reflecting your highest level of education
Provide two letters of reference (can be personal but not from a Family member)
Complete the on-line application via eReg
Complete Class Smart Training and Alice Training
Attend a Virtual Informational Meeting and a Virtual Orientation session. Business attire required for both.
Be prepared to be fingerprinted for Alachua County Public Schools. The cost for fingerprinting is $73.75 at the applicant’s expense.
Complete a drug screen (no cost to you)
Daily Pay Rate:
High School Diploma $63.00 per day
Associate Degree $77.00 per day
Bachelor's Degree or Higher $84.00 per day
Retired Teacher from Alachua Co. $98.00 per day
