Job Description: Outside Sales Consultant – Commercial Roofing

Position Overview:
The Commercial Roofing Outside Sales Consultant is responsible for seeking out new customers, obtaining new projects to bid, presenting completed bids to customers, and effectively closing sales. Some estimating may be required from time to time depending on bid volume. This role is designed to drive revenue growth and requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong communication, relationship-building, and sales skills. The Outside Sales Consultant will also be required to use the company’s CRM system daily to manage leads, track sales progress, and maintain customer information.
Key Responsibilities:
Seek Out New Customers and Projects:
o Actively prospect for new customers and business opportunities within a specific line of business and designated sales territory through networking, cold calling, referrals, and industry events.
o Conduct site visits, evaluate customer needs, and initiate new project opportunities to pursue.
Obtain New Projects for Bidding:
o Work with the estimating department to ensure accurate and timely project bids.
o Collect necessary project details from potential clients and submit them to the estimating team for bid preparation.
o Track and monitor bids to ensure follow-up and timely response to client inquiries.
Present Bids to Customers:
o Once the bid is completed by the estimating department, present the bid to the customer and explain the project scope, pricing, and timelines.
o Address any questions or concerns customers may have and offer solutions as needed.
Close Sales:
o Utilize strong sales techniques to close deals and secure contracts.
o Follow up with prospects, addressing concerns and pushing for contract execution to convert leads into closed sales.
o Ensure all contracts are signed and finalized before the project begins.
Maintain Accurate Customer Data and Sales Pipeline:
o Use the company’s CRM system daily to track all leads, opportunities, and sales activities.
o Keep detailed records of customer interactions, project bids, and potential sales to ensure organized and effective follow-up.
o Regularly update CRM with lead status, next steps, and client information.
Customer Relationship Management:
o Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
o Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met throughout the sales process.
o Coordinate with operations and project management teams to ensure smooth project execution after the sale.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
o Work closely with the estimating, operations, and project management teams to ensure a seamless process from initial sale to project completion.
o Provide feedback to internal teams based on customer preferences, project changes, and potential improvements in the process.
Meet Sales Goals and Quotas:
o Achieve or exceed individual sales targets and quotas as set by management.
o Proactively pursue new business opportunities and leverage existing relationships to drive revenue growth.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in sales, preferably in the commercial roofing or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of commercial roofing products and services (TPO, PVC, KEE, LWIC).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (Monday.com).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Compensation: Draw Against Commission Structure
The Outside Sales Consultant position operates under a draw against commission compensation plan. This plan provides a weekly guaranteed draw and high earning potential with a lucrative commission structure.
