Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry, with a solid understanding of job costing, QuickBooks, and Excel. A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not required. This role will play a critical part in supporting the financial health of our construction projects and ensuring our financial processes run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
Perform detailed job costing and collaborate with project managers for accurate cost tracking and reporting.
Reconcile bank and credit card statements, ensuring accurate financial records.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and job cost analysis.
Assist in budget preparation and forecasting, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
Oversee compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Support the preparation of tax returns and assist with year-end audits.
Maintain and organize financial records and documentation for easy access and accuracy.
Ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry is required.
Technical Skills: Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (advanced knowledge preferred).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of job costing principles and project accounting.
Organizational Skills: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred but not required.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze and clearly communicate financial data.
