Position Opening: Head Sewing Technician
Job Description & Responsibilities:
Oversees: Sewing Team (currently 4 members and growing)
The Sewing Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the sewing team, ensuring the production of high-quality golf accessories made from leather, elastic, fleece, foam, magnets, and zippers. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and technical sewing skills to maintain efficiency, consistency, and quality across all products. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a sewing department, working with leather, operating within a production line, and optimizing workflow to meet company objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam & Production Management
Lead and oversee the sewing team, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Collaborate with the Production Manager to manage order timelines and prioritize production tasks.
Monitor and report on monthly output per product, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency.
Provide training and mentorship to sewing staff, ensuring they develop the skills needed to meet production goals.
Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering team growth and development.
System Oversight
Management of Smartsheet software to ensure deadlines and materials are properly organized and communicated to the sewing team
Sewing & Quality Control
Oversee the sewing of all products, including leather goods and headwear.
Ensure the highest quality and consistency in all sewn products, making necessary improvements where possible.
Work with the design team to refine product construction, improving durability, appearance, and efficiency in manufacturing.
Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to streamline production and enhance output.
Product Development & Innovation
Assist in the creation, development, and refinement of new products.
Develop and adjust patterns to meet design goals while optimizing efficiency.
Recommend materials, construction techniques, and workflow improvements to enhance product quality and production speed.
Machine Maintenance & Inventory Management
Oversee the maintenance of all sewing machines, ensuring they are cleaned biweekly and serviced as needed.
Maintain an inventory of materials and supplies, ensuring availability for uninterrupted production.
Provide the Production Manager with weekly material orders or as needed.
Meetings & Reporting
Attend weekly meetings with the Production Manager and other key team members to align on daily tasks, discuss production goals, challenges, and improvements.
Contribute to monthly strategic meetings focused on overall production trajectory and long-term improvements.
Qualifications & RequirementsRequired Experience & Skills
5+ years of experience in sewing, with a focus on leather work and product construction.
2+ years of experience managing a sewing team or department in a production environment.
Proficiency in sewing machine operation, pattern-making, and leatherwork techniques.
Experience in production line workflow, optimizing efficiency while maintaining quality.
Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage and develop a growing team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure collaboration across departments.
Ability to problem-solve and improve production processes for efficiency and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high-end leather products and understanding premium craftsmanship.
Background in sewing production or similar niche industries.
Knowledge of material sourcing and cost-effective production strategies
Work Schedule & Expectations
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9AM - 5PM (in-office attendance required)
Overtime weekend work as necessary
PTO: 10 Days, Advance notice of at least one week required for planned absences to ensure production continuity.
Meetings: Must be available for interviews, production planning meetings, and product development discussions.

Pay Range/Job Type:
$23 - $26/hour plus incentives (bonus pay based on piece count, performance, etc.)
