Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Veterinary Technician to join our team in a busy puppy kennel environment. The ideal candidate will assist with the health and well-being of puppies under our care, support veterinary procedures, and help maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and assess the health and behavior of puppies daily
Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by a veterinarian
Assist with veterinary exams, diagnostic testing, and minor procedures
Perform basic health checks: temperature, heart rate, weight, hydration
Collect lab samples (fecal, urine, blood) and prepare for transport or in-house analysis
Maintain detailed health and treatment records for each animal
Feed, clean, and provide enrichment and socialization for puppies
Sanitize kennels, feeding tools, and medical equipment
Educate staff and adopters/owners on puppy care, health, and preventative treatment
Recognize early signs of illness or distress and report promptly
Assist during emergency care situations
Support intake exams and quarantine protocols for new arrivals
Qualifications:
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred; relevant experience considered
Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical or kennel environment
Strong understanding of puppy development and care
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
Comfortable handling animals of all temperaments
Excellent communication and recordkeeping skills
Passion for animal welfare and preventative healthcare
Work Environment:

Exposure to cleaning agents, animal allergens, and bodily fluids
Variable schedule including weekends and holidays
