Job Summary
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Vegan Cook to join our food truck team. As a Vegan Food Truck Cook, you’ll prepare and cook plant-based menu items, maintain a clean and efficient workspace, and deliver exceptional food to our customers. You’ll thrive in a high-energy environment, collaborating with a tight-knit crew to keep operations smooth during busy service hours in Wynwood’s bustling food scene.
Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook vegan menu items (e.g., plant-based burgers, tacos, bowls, and specials) according to recipes, ensuring consistency, flavor, and presentation.
Order Management: Efficiently handle customer orders, prioritizing speed and quality during peak hours at markets, festivals, or pop-up events.
Inventory & Stock: Assist with inventory checks, restocking plant-based ingredients, and ensuring proper storage to maintain freshness and quality.
Cleanliness & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., ServSafe guidelines) in a compact mobile kitchen.
Customer Interaction: Occasionally engage with customers, providing friendly service and answering questions about vegan ingredients, allergens, or menu items.
Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain food truck equipment (grills, fryers, prep stations), reporting issues promptly.
Menu Innovation: Contribute ideas for new vegan dishes or specials, incorporating seasonal ingredients and trends in plant-based cuisine.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team to ensure seamless setup, service, and breakdown of the food truck.
Qualifications
Experience: 1-2 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced kitchen (food truck, restaurant, or similar), with a focus on vegan or plant-based cuisine preferred.
Skills: Proficiency in vegan cooking techniques, flavor balancing, and plant-based ingredient knowledge (e.g., tofu, tempeh, seitan, legumes, and vegan cheeses). Strong knife skills and food safety knowledge required.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a compact, mobile kitchen with limited space and resources.
Passion for Veganism: Enthusiasm for plant-based cooking and an understanding of vegan dietary needs and preferences.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate food truck events and festivals.
Certifications: Food Handler’s or ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Wynwood’s vibrant food scene and vegan community is a plus.
