Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored prepared meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life challenging illnesses. Our team of seventy employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple jurisdictions across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
We seek a part-time Delivery Driver (approximately 20-30 hours of work a week, daytime working hours). The Driver will:
load refrigerated cargo van with day’s deliveries;
deliver meals and groceries to client homes throughout the Washington Metro region;
offer a friendly greeting to clients; and
fill vehicle with gas, and report any maintenance issues.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has a flexible schedule or broad availability during daytime business hours.
Requirements include a driver’s license (CDL not required) and good driving record, working knowledge of traffic and highway laws/regulations, ability to lift up to 30 lbs., familiarity with the Washington region, good people skills, and an appreciation for diversity. Prior professional driving experience strongly preferred. Must be able and willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions, including snow and ice. Offer of employment contingent upon a background check and pre-employment drug test.
Drivers make a starting rate of $21.64 per hour and contribute to Food & Friends’ charitable mission of helping neighbors in need. Benefits not included.
