Location: Bethesda Maryland
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation: Competitive, Based on Experience
Benefits: Most Federal Holidays Off | No Weekends or Evenings | Minimal Administrative Work | Focused Optical
About Us:
At our optical, we believe in providing personalized, quality eyewear services without red tape. Our boutique is independently operated, does not except vision care plans or insurances, and focuses on delivering outstanding experiences for our customers. We foster a calm, professional work environment where opticians can truly focus on their craft and build meaningful relationships with clients—without being rushed or buried in paperwork.
The Opportunity:
We’re seeking a skilled, self-motivated optician to manage and help drive its continued growth. If you love styling patients, know lenses inside and out, and enjoy a supportive, low-pressure environment, this is your ideal opportunity.
What You’ll Do:
Assist patients with frame selection, lens choices, and fittings
Place and track eyewear orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
Perform adjustments and minor repairs with confidence
Maintain inventory and curate frame displays
Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism and warmth
Keep the optical area organized, clean, and welcoming
Grow the business by nurturing relationships and recommending ideal products
Interact with local businesses and develop relationships outside of the office
Operate independently with minimal supervision, maximum trust
Most importantly it will be to ensure total satisfaction of our customers by always exceeding expectations and providing a personalized experience.
What You Won’t Do:
Work nights or weekends
Fight with insurance companies
Process complicated claims and billings
Drown in paperwork
Be stressed out from a chaotic toxic environment
What We’re Looking For:
At least 2–3 years of optical experience (licensure preferred but not required)
Strong knowledge of lens products, frame brands, and optical measurements
Excellent communication and customer service skills
A self-starter who thrives in an autonomous role
Someone who enjoys both the technical and fashion sides of optical
A team player who values a relaxed but professional workplace
A person that smiles easily and truly enjoys interacting with the public while understanding that your primary responsibility is to make our customers happy by always finding the “yes’s versus “no’s”.
You should be a “can do” person versus a “can’t or won’t do”
Perks:
Competitive compensation and bonuses
Work-life balance: Consistent hours, no weekend or evening shifts
Supportive environment: You’ll have the space and autonomy to do your best work
Minimal admin: No insurance billing, limited paperwork
Stable and rewarding role: Focus on building the optical and making real connections
How to Apply:
Please submit your resume along with a brief cover letter highlighting your optical experience and why this role appeals to you as well as why we should select you for this opportunity. We can’t wait to meet someone who shares our passion for great eyewear and even better service.
