Our family is seeking an experienced and caring, part-time live-in hospice aide to provide in-home support for our beloved grandmother. She is 94 years old and currently receiving hospice care for congestive heart failure. She has always been the heart of our family, and we want to ensure she receives the dignified, compassionate care she deserves during this precious time.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with minimum of 2 years specifically with elderly clients
Valid CPR/First Aid certification
Minimum of 1 year experience working in hospice or palliative care setting
Comfortable with oral medication management, as directed by hospice physician
Patient, gentle demeanor with elderly patients
Two professional references that can speak to your elderly care and hospice/palliative care experience
Conversational English proficiency for clear communication with client, family and healthcare team
Reliable transportation
Ability to work 24-hour shifts with appropriate rest taken on night shift (private bedroom and private bathroom provided)
Comfortable with adult male living in the home (clients adult son lives there and works part time)
Must be available for 1 full day (9am-9pm) of training on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday before Sept 27th
Preferred Qualifications
Hospice aide certification or any related specialized training
Your Responsibilities
Personal care: Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and maintaining clients comfort and dignity
Preventative care: Proper positioning and adherence to turning schedule for wound prevention, daily gentle range of motion
Companionship: Providing emotional support and a gentle, caring presence
Light housekeeping: Maintaining cleanliness of client’s immediate care area and laundering her clothes and linens
Meal preparation: Preparing small, nutritious meals (no dietary restrictions currently)
Health monitoring: Observing and documenting any changes in condition and communicating with family and hospice team
Transfers: Ability to safely perform moderate to max assist transfers to/from Geri-chair or wheel chair, no more than once a day and in cases of emergency (client is no more than 100lbs)
Family support: Working collaboratively with our family and hospice team to ensure coordinated care

Competitive compensation: Flat rate of $324 per 24-hour shift
Flexible scheduling: Initial schedule includes 3-4 twenty-four-hour shifts per week, starting some time around the last week of September/ first week of October
Training: Paid training shift with current hospice aide provided

The house is located in a quiet single family home in Silver Spring, MD. We currently have one part-time live-in hospice aide who works 3-4 twenty-four-hour shifts currently, but we are looking to hire one more to fill the gab of the remaining days in the week.
