POSITION SUMMARY: The Restaurant Captain Server is responsible for leading the service team, ensuring guests receive the highest level of service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. In this role, the Captain Server will assist with overseeing dining room operations, coordinate service flow, and mentor junior staff to uphold restaurant standards. This position requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing a superior dining experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Lead by example, providing exceptional service while guiding and supporting servers in their daily duties.
- Ensure all servers are executing service protocols and maintaining restaurant standards.
- Assist with oversight of the dining area to ensure smooth service, addressing any issues promptly and efficiently.
- Assign stations and responsibilities to servers based on their experience and current needs of the restaurant.
Guest Service Excellence
- Greet and interact with guests, ensuring a warm, friendly, and welcoming experience.
- Ensure that food and beverages are delivered in a timely manner and meet the restaurant’s quality standards.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide personalized service to enhance their dining experience.
Operational Efficiency
- Work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure efficient order flow and timely service.
- Monitor the dining room for cleanliness, proper setup, and overall ambiance, maintaining a positive environment.
- Ensure that food and beverage orders are correct and complete, coordinating with other team members to resolve any discrepancies.
Training & Mentorship
- Assist in training new servers and other front-of-house staff, providing feedback and guidance on service techniques, product knowledge, and company standards.
- Encourage teamwork and foster a positive, supportive work culture within the service team.
- Provide ongoing coaching to improve service delivery and ensure consistency in quality.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience as a server, with at least 2-3 years of experience in a restaurant environment
- Leadership experience or a strong desire to take on a leadership role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both guests and team members
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- In-depth knowledge of food, beverages, and restaurant operations
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service
- Experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant settings
- Wine and cocktail knowledge to assist guests with beverage selections
- Proficiency in using POS (Point of Sale) systems and handling cash/credit transactions preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy trays, and work in a busy environment
