Energy Sector Principal (Tetra Tech ES, Inc.– Arlington, VA); Multiple positions available. Responsible for providing expert guidance to clients and internal teams, preparation, and management of projects in the energy sector and providing assist execute business development plan in line with the overall growth strategy. Manage and deliver complex projects in multiple countries and collaborate with other teams to ensure successful project execution, and client satisfaction. Responsible for managing technical projects, providing technical expertise to project teams, and ensuring high-quality project deliverables. Provide support in developing master plans, Transmission & Distribution expansion plans and renewable energy interconnection and integration plans using energy planning tools such as Plexos, Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming (SDDP), DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and PSS/E etc. Lead analytical and advisory work in the energy sector, including regulatory proposals, technical studies, and strategic energy planning. Support studies related to operational technologies such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), energy management system (EMS), automation and grid digitalization to improve efficiency of power system operations. Provide expert guidance to governmental entities and power system operators on strategic energy planning including integrated resources and resilience planning. Coordinate multicultural teams and provide mentorship to operational and analytical activities. Raise Tetra Tech, Inc. profile in the market through outreach and knowledge sharing on global emerging practices related to the energy transition and evolving technologies. Represent Tetra Tech, Inc. as a thought leader at conferences, webinars and on social media platforms. Position based in Arlington, VA; telecommuting permitted up to 4 days per week. Travel required 30% of working time.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in the energy sector. Must have 4 years of experience in each of the following: Working with operational technologies and grid modernization projects; Energy planning tools including Plexos, Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming (SDDP), DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or PSS/E; Working in developing master plans, integrating renewable energy sources into power systems, and implementing climate change policies; and, Working with government authorities and development partners to implement energy sector reforms, develop regulatory proposals, and lead technical studies to improve energy security in the power sector. Experience may be gained concurrently. Position based in Arlington, VA; telecommuting permitted up to 4 days per week. Travel required 30% of working time.
