A developer of rental homes is seeking a dedicated, experienced and take-charge bookkeeper, either a part-time self-employed independent contractor, or a small independent accounting firm.
BOOKKEEPING ON CONTRACT - partly remote:
- Accounting set-up:
. Bookkeeping is to be performed on QuickBooks online and Excel, both already set up.
. Income and expense transactions from QuickBooks Online are transmitted automatically through a bank feed and credit card automatic feed. Automatic feed may need to be verified with paper or online statements.
- Bookkeeping responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
. To enter data in various accounts (already set up) into QuickBooks online, such as income and expense from checking account bank feed and from business credit card online feed. Verify bank and credit card feed accuracy into QuickBooks online accounts.
. To prepare various Excel reports exported from QuickBooks, as needed for accounting clarity,
. To prepare a detailed Excel reports to verify monthly rent payment (paid by Zelle and by check) for each tenant account.
. To prepare a monthly Excel expense and payment to contractors and other vendors. (already set up in QuickBooks)
. To prepare a monthly reconciliation of bank account and credit card accounts.
. To prepare a monthly Profit and Loss statement.
. Verify payments by automatic debit
. Other basic accounting tasks, required to perform an accurate accounting.
At year end:
. To allocate annual income and expense accounts from various QuickBooks and Excel accounts
. Prepare schedule E for tax preparation on Excel format (already set-up).
. Provide the CPA with year-end Schedule E and other accounting data statement for tax returns preparation.
. And other accounting tasks as required.
Qualifications required:
. Strong bookkeeping experience with QuickBooks online feeds, preferably with Real Estate accounting,
. Advanced experience with QuickBooks online with bank feed, and Excel, Microsoft Words required.
. Take charge, well-organized, capable of working with minimum supervision.
. Communication and problem-solving skills to handle accounting and administrative tasks.
. QuickBooks certification, bachelor's degree in accounting preferred, but not required.
Ideal Candidate:
. Independent bookkeeper/accountant or small accounting firm.
. Experience in real estate leasing accounting, a plus.
. Candidates working for an accounting firm looking for a part time job and retirees with strong accounting record to be considered
. Only candidate from DMV with quick access to Rockville for meetings will be considered. Mostly online accounting with some in office meetings, as necessary.
. Must have a take charge experience to perform the required bookkeeping tasks.
Compensation:
. Compensation on a lump sum monthly contract for remote accounting tasks.
. In office, bookkeeping and administrative tasks could be on an hourly basis or contact.
. Competitive compensation as independent self-employed contractor based on experience and tasks performed.
