Internship Description  At Smiths Group, we are looking for motivated and detail-oriented students to join our legal team as interns in Washington, D.C., for 10 weeks from June to August 2025. This is an opportunity to gain real-world legal experience, working alongside seasoned professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment. The internship requires 40 hours of work per week, conducted primarily on-site with the possibility of remote work, and pays $20/hour.The intern will primarily support the Ethics & Compliance team and will have the opportunity to engage with and learn from other parts of the legal department within Smiths. This unique opportunity provides robust exposure to the D.C. operations of a multi-national company. Interns will gain insight into a leading engineering firm's legal, legislative and communications affairs and strategies. Responsibilities  Assist the legal team with research, document review, presentations/communications and analysis on a range of legal topics relevant to ethics and compliance in a global business;Collaborate on legal projects that span multiple geographical regions, including in the areas of ethics & compliance, corporate governance, international trade compliance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) complianceAttend team meetings and contribute to discussions;Participate in a manufacturing site visit to see one of our division’s operations in action;Engage in HR workshops focused on career development, including resume building, interview techniques, and professional communication;Work with cross-functional teams to understand the legal implications of our operations across the world.
