Summary This is a full-time position with the Human Resources and Budget Office at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities The Administrative Assistant provides support to the Director of Human Resources and the Director of the Budget Office, and assists the Deputy Directors in both offices and the Lead Staffing Specialist with certain assignments. The incumbent's primary work involves assisting with Human Resources recruitment, staffing and general office duties and a number of Budget Office administrative and financial management tasks. The incumbent is responsible for compiling and sharing information with internal Court offices, and external organizations and individuals. The incumbent performs a variety of transactional, data review, and information organizational work within the Human Resources Office. Areas of responsibility include recruiting and staffing support, preparing monthly and other regular Human Resources reports, and answering questions on routine Human Resources staffing, benefits, or other HR related matters. Budget Office duties include reconciliation of financial management activities; tracking obligations and expenditures for certain programs; preparing various recurring financial reports; entering requisitions into the Oracle system for a number of Court offices, and other duties as assigned. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Human Resources Director and the Budget Director. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience with federal Human Resources policies and automated systems is required. Experience inputting vacancy announcements into an automated staffing system is required. Experience that has required working successfully under pressure, with confidential information, and in a busy office is required. Experience with budget, accounting principles, and/or financial management principles is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has experience handling a large volume of work and compiling information from multiple sources. Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills, time management skills, tact, discretion and a courteous demeanor are required. Proficiency with Internet and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, is required. Demonstrated good judgement and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with key management officials and employees at all levels sufficient to interpret or explain complex or controversial procedures and practices is also required. A willingness to adapt to changing schedules, systems, situations, and duties is necessary. Demeanor of customer service first is mandatory. To qualify for the SCP-9, the applicant must meet the educational requirement or have two years of specialized Human Resources experience. To qualify for the SCP-11, the applicant must have at least three years of Human Resources specialized experience, with at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to working at the SCP-9 grade level in the Human Resources field. At the full performance level, the position requires substantial knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of Supreme Court Human Resources and Budget policies, staffing procedures, federal benefits administration, and information systems. Education A Bachelor's degree or at least 2 years of relevant Human Resources experience is required.
