Short-Term Substitute Teacher

Reports To: School Principal or Assigned Administrator
Compensation: $100 per day
Position Overview
Student First is seeking a dedicated and flexible Short-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instructional support in the absence of regular classroom teachers. This role ensures continuity of learning by following lesson plans, maintaining a structured and positive classroom environment, and engaging students in meaningful activities.
Key Responsibilities
Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher and ensure classroom continuity.
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies and expectations.
Adapt teaching methods to support students' needs and engagement.
Take attendance and complete required documentation.
Communicate any classroom incidents or concerns with school administrators.
Supervise students during transitions, recess, or lunch as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to adapt quickly and follow lesson plans effectively.
Must pass a background check and meet state/district substitute teacher requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching certification or substitute teaching permit (if required by state/district).
Experience in classroom instruction or youth programs.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Work Schedule & Conditions
Assignments are on an as-needed basis, ranging from a single day to a few weeks.
Flexible schedule based on school needs.
May involve standing for extended periods and light lifting of classroom materials.
