The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. With the growth of our design system and the pace of digital transformation across the company, we need a designer to help the team tackle the next phase. As the Sr Experience Design Specialist, you'll work closely with the product manager, the team, and stakeholders to understand the needs of our users. You'll leverage insights for the creation of interface patterns and content.What you'll do on the Travelers Design System Team:• Ensure exceptional craftsmanship in design artifacts.• Work closely with the developers on our team to create accessible, standards-compliant, reusable interface patterns.• Take part in continuous improvement efforts, finding opportunities to make our work more effective.We'd love to hear from you if you have:• An understanding of common information architecture and interaction design methods • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 AA) and experience with their application in digital product design.• Familiarity with creating or working on pattern libraries, style guides, or design systems, especially with a focus on accessibility and inclusive design.• Experience designing and conducting user research activities (e.g. surveys, interviews, tests, observation), and evaluating results to create actionable insights.• Familiarity with Figma We believe in hiring smart, curious designers who are eager to learn and develop their skills. - May serve as the key point of accountability for UX efforts at the project level. Advocates for user-centered design approaches.
- Practices and encourages collaboration, experimentation, agility, and vigorous inquiry, while maintaining high expectations and attention to detail.
- Provides input into the creation and evolution of design systems and best practices that account for user needs and context, while reinforcing brand values and standards.
- Ensures adherence to UX guidelines across projects.
- Informs UX resource allocation during ideation, prioritization, development, and quality assurance phases of projects.
- Plans and serves as facilitator or observer for UX research and testing efforts. Conducts competitive research and analysis. May report research findings to stakeholders. Translates these findings into design solutions.
- Creates artifacts that include personas, journey maps, user workflows, information architecture, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, within project timelines and budgets.
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, psychology, human factors, social sciences or related field or 3 years of User Experience work experience required.
- Typical incumbent experience level 3+ years
- Strong communication, organization, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity or basic understating of web-based technologies.
- Experience with wireframing / prototyping software.
- Experience in conducting end user research and interviews.
