Job Summary:
As a diesel mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles. Responsibilities:
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and vehicle systems.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
Repair or replace faulty parts, components, or systems including brakes, transmissions, and fuel systems.
Test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper functioning.
Inspect vehicles for compliance with safety regulations and perform required inspections and emissions tests.
Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inventory of parts.
Collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and customers.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics preferred.
Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, automotive systems, and diagnostic tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Proficient computer skills for record-keeping and diagnostic purposes.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification in Diesel Technology.
Prior experience with specific brands or models of diesel engines or vehicles.
Experience with welding, fabrication, or other related skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions, including bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Comfort working in noisy and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Willingness to use personal protective equipment as required.
